When people hear the word service, many immediately think about church volunteering, being busy, helping others, or always saying yes.

But what if serving is deeper than that?

What if some of the things we call service are actually fear, guilt, insecurity, or the need to be needed?

In this week’s upcoming episode of Walking the Narrow Path, we are talking about the heart of service — not just what we do for others, but why we do it.

Because the truth is, you can do the right thing with the wrong heart.

You can help someone and still be seeking validation.
You can say yes and still be driven by fear.
You can serve publicly while quietly hoping people notice.
You can look humble on the outside while still performing on the inside.

That is where this conversation gets honest.

In Episode 7, we talk about the difference between serving from love and serving for approval. We look at how Jesus modeled service in John 13 when He washed the disciples’ feet. That moment was not weakness. It was strength under control. Jesus knew who He was, where He came from, and where He was going — and from that security, He served.

That matters because insecure service eventually gets heavy.

When service is rooted in identity, it becomes love.
When service is rooted in approval, it becomes exhausting.

This episode also gets practical. We talk about service at home, at work, in church, in leadership, in grief, and in everyday moments that nobody applauds. We also talk about boundaries, because biblical service does not mean becoming everyone’s doormat.

Not every yes is service.
Some yeses come from guilt.
Some yeses come from fear.
Some yeses come from the need to be accepted.

But real service flows from a settled heart.

It is not about being seen.
It is about becoming more like Christ.

Episode 7 releases this Friday.
